El árbol del Tule in Oaxaca, Mexico is an ahuehuete (Taxodium mucronatum). Its trunk has the largest diameter of any tree in the world, and it has witnessed more than 2000 years of history. By the end of the 20th century, pollution and severe drought were slowly threatening its life, however members of the local community came together and succeeded in rescuing it by watering and caring for the tree. For me, el árbol del Tule is a symbol of survival and hope.
